Are you curious about knitting or crochet pattern design?

Wondering if it would be a good fit, and where in the world to start?

Fashion Drawings

From the "outside," the design process can feel a bit elusive. You might be asking yourself questions like:

  • What actually happens in the design process?

  • What steps do I need to take to create a real crochet or knitting pattern?

  • Is designing even something that I can do?

Don't worry; I've got you!

Inside the "Introduction to Knitting and Crochet Pattern Design" class, we explore your creativity (yes, you are creative, I promise!) and walk through the entire design process.

With this low investment opportunity, you'll have the tools you need to confidently choose whether you want to give designing a go (no more what if's!) and create your first knit or crochet pattern design.

There's nothing to lose!

Within this class we cover:

  • where to find design inspiration

  • methods of storing design ideas

  • my signature Creative Thought Journey

  • the complete design process, from idea to publishing

  • fundamentals of Designer's Math

The class is hosted live, and your questions are invited! You will also receive a link to the class replay.

Gratitude Shawl Knitting Pattern by Snickerdoodle Knits.png

Hello lovely!

I'm Jessica, the knitting pattern designer behind Snickerdoodle Knits and founder of Pattern Design Circle. I've been designing knitting patterns for 4 years and mentoring knit and crochet pattern designers for the past 2 years.

It's my passion to connect with fellow pattern designers (and potential designers!) to share my love of designing, business, and marketing; support them in their journey; and provide them with the resources to build the aligned, sustainable business of their dreams. I know the journey can feel lonely, and it's my mission to help you know you aren't alone. Here, there's help and support for you along the whole path.

I look forward to seeing you in class!

I absolutely love connecting and sharing with you - and I'm an open book happy to answer all of your designing classes!

Why might you choose to design?

I asked some fellow designers why they design.
Here's what they shared!

When I started knitting, every new project was a way to explore another technique—and that was before YouTube! Now as a designer and teacher, I get to learn a whole new set of skills and then pass my knowledge on to other knitters. I love the logic and math involved in writing patterns, and the opportunity to show techniques visually in my linked tutorials.

Mary Beth Kelso

I design knitting patterns to use creativity to test and express ideas that are analytically inspired. I love the opportunity this provides to other makers who want to be challenged and learn new skills while making something they'll be proud to wear or gift.

Yvonne Poon, Gamer Babe Knits

I started designing because I wanted to create financial freedom for myself. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and with knitwear design I can combine my desire for self-employment and my physical need to create.

Megan, Pip & Pin

Designing fulfills my creative urge. I love to knit and crochet, but living now in a climate that does not require much knit/wooly clothing, so designing is my ‘excuse’ to dive into creating/making more pieces, in this case not for me, but for others. I like to solve puzzles, and the ‘math’ part of the pattern plus finding the best way and solution for some tricky parts, definitely drives me to do it again and again. In the end, it’s so nice to see how my idea and my instructions transform into someone’s project.

Q: Can I join even if I'm not a designer (yet)?

A: Absolutely! This is an introductory class to give you a taste of what designing is like ~ and give you the tools to create your first knitting or crochet pattern design if you choose to give it a try.

Q: What happens after I sign up? When will I have access to the class?

A: After signing up for the class, you will receive a confirmation of payment, with a link (that you can save to your calendar if you'd like) to the call and a reminder of the date and time. You will receive a least one email reminder from me prior to the class, again with the link to the call and date and time of the class. Following the class, you will receive an email from me with the link to the replay.

Q: Do I need to bring anything with me to class?

A: Just your listening ear, a pen or pencil, something to write on, and your questions! You don't need to have anything prepared to bring with you to class.
