    ABOUT THE PATTERN

It is very easy for many of us to fall into the depths of comparison-itis, anxiety, and depression. This is something that I can relate to on a very personal level and am learning how to overcome. One thing I have found very important on this journey has been to find a love for yourself, and that is what this shawl is all about.

To encourage you to foster your self-love, I have designed this shawl with an urgent message to do something special for yourself. That may be knitting a project for yourself, splurging on some fancy yarn (like this yarn that I used with 10% cashmere!), or adorning yourself in an elegant outfit with your favorite hand knit. Whatever self-care means to you, do it for yourself. Love yourself and show yourself that you care.

It doesn’t matter what you look like, how others perceive you, how popular you are, or how you dress. What really, truly matters is that you find your own self worth, that you love yourself, and that what kindles your flame of life is from within. You are the only person you will live with every moment of your life, so show yourself some love!

This pattern is written as a 1-skein shawl and as a 2-skein shawl. It is easy to customize, as the pattern is written as a repeat. With your purchase of the pattern, you will receive one PDF download that includes both written and charted instructions. The instructions are separated, so you can easily print only what you need!

This design was created as a collaboration with Marianated Yarns. If you have the means, I highly recommend checking out her amazing colorway options! You can find some of my favorites on my Love Yourself Shawl Color Inspiration blog post. However, if your gauge is too tight for the yarn that you are using, you may find that your shawl takes more of a triangular shape than a crescent shape.

    Darning needle
    (4) Stitch markers

    TECHNIQUES

This design is comprised of a very simple lace heart motif, perfect for a beginner wanting to try lace knitting! The specific techniques include knitting and purling stitches together, yarn over stitches, and a picot bind off. Not familiar with these stitches? If you’re comfortable with knits and purls and you’re excited to learn new techniques, don’t let the the lace in this pattern scare you. Video tutorials are linked in the pattern for new-to-you techniques.

I would like to extend a huge thank you to all of my test knitters and my tech editor for this pattern, Jekaterina Dmitrijeva.

What the test knitters had to say about the pattern:

    “Super fun so far!”
“love the pattern and will definitely knit again!”
“The pattern is clear and the rows are easy to memorize - it’s a great movie-watching knit. And the hearts so far look great!”
