    GRATITUDE SHAWL

    ABOUT THE PATTERN

The Gratitude Shawl is a simple but gorgeous crescent shawl containing three basic lace motifs and some garter. The pattern is engaging but not complex.

I designed the Gratitude Shawl with Thanksgiving in mind, to evoke the feelings of peaceful, calming contentment that come when I think of the things I am grateful for. The pattern motifs remind me of experiences that I am thankful for: situations that open my mind; paths that don’t go as planned; heart-enlarging experiences; and simple, everyday life. I expect these are things we can all relate to and be thankful for, and I hope that, as you knit this shawl, you will take time to reflect on experiences you are grateful for in your life.

This shawl would look gorgeous in speckled or tonal yarn. It would be beautiful as a one-color or two-color shawl, or with each section in a different color. Learn more about the design inspiration behind this shawl in my Behind the Design: Gratitude Shawl blog post! For color combination and yarn suggestions, check out my Gratitude Shawl: Yarn & Color Recommendations blog post!

This pattern includes both written and charted instructions in one PDF file, but the pattern makes it easy to print only the instructions that you will use.

    TECHNIQUES

This pattern uses simple lace motif patterns that are repeated multiple times. It is a great shawl design for an adventurous beginner wanting to try some lace patterns. The specific techniques in this pattern include KFB, K2tog, SK2P, SSK, and YO. The pattern includes linked video tutorials to all of the techniques used in the pattern. Don’t let the lace scare you!
