The Dancing in the Rain Shawl is a fun, lightweight shawl that I designed as a collaboration with Laura of Running on Yarn. Do you struggle to come up with ideas for colorways to use instead of the initial color used in the design? If so, I've put this post together JUST. FOR. YOU.!! Here, I've outlined some beautiful colorways from Laura's shop (all of which would look beautiful as a Running on Yarn Shawl) as well as outlining some more affordable yarn options!
Of course, I ought to start with the yarn that I knit my Dancing in the Rain Shawl with. I used Laura's Two Mile Run Series base (a fun single ply merino) in the Blue/Seaglass colorway.
All of Laura's colors are fun, bright, and beautiful, and every single one of them would work brilliantly for a Dancing in the Rain Shawl, so here I've selected a few of my favorites. Please feel free to browse the rest of Laura's yarn on her website!

Yarn Alternatives
I completely understand that you may not be able to afford hand-dyed yarn, and that is 100% OK! (I wouldn't be able to work with it if it weren't for collaborations!) Because of that, I've selected a list of more affordable fingering weight yarns that would also work well in the Dancing in the Rain Shawl! (Note: I am not affiliated with any of the links -- I am just providing this list for your reference. The images are the images from the links provided.)
To perform your own search for affordable sock weight yarns, here are a couple places to start your search:
