Knitting in the Works: June 2020

Do you remember the three pattern collections that I shared about in my "Knitting in the Works: May 2020" post? If not, here's a brief reminder of what I'm working on:

I'm currently working on three collections that will be released in November and December! The three collections are My Forever Home (which is based on my home state, Montana), A New Home (based on my new home, North Carolina), and Next Door Neighbors (based on "our neighbors" in Canada). Each of these collections aims to highlight special characteristics that I associate with the location, as well as indie dyers local to the area!

I've been busy doing a lot of not-designing stuff in the last couple of months (yes, there were multiple weeks were I didn't even pick up the needles!!), but I *do* still have a few new designs to share with you! A hat for the My Forever Home collection and a fingerless mittens pattern for the A New Home collection!

Weekends at the Cabin Hat

The Weekends at the Cabin Hat is a simple, gender-neutral, 2-in-1 design using Western Sky Knits Merino 17 DK (in Mother Lode). One version of the design features a mountain motif and the other features a pine tree motif -- both of which are important aspects of having a weekend at a cabin! This design includes three size options.

Along the Shores Fingerless Mittens

The Along the Shores Fingerless Mittens pattern is a simple design that highlights the beautiful Queen City Yarn on NoDa Sock (in On the Dock). I've designed the mitten using a herringbone stitch pattern for the cuff of the mitten (and include an alternative instruction for a stretchier ribbed cuff), a plain stockinette for the body of the mitten (to represent the sands of the beach), and a wave motif for the top of the mitten. This design is written for five sizes.

What do you think?! Are you enjoying my adventuring away from the shawls? Are you missing the shawls? Which is your favorite from these projects?
